madagascarensis BE-3247

This iconic species is one of the most famous of all, having been portrayed by Marianne North in her beautiful 19th century painting (shown as the last photo in the sequence here). It was subsequently published as a species and named in her honour. It is very spectacular and has an absolutely beautiful scalloped peristome. Pitcher colouration is typically red speckled on cream background. Prefers shaded conditions.

A lowlander with pretty bright pink pitchers contrast nicely, with the light green leaves.
